Atlas Professionals is seeking a skilled Deployment Specialist to join our client's team. The Deployment Specialist will be responsible for the deployment, recovery, and maintenance of marine scientific equipment, including acoustic instruments, CTDs, and other specialized devices. This role requires a strong understanding of oceanographic principles, technical expertise, and the ability to work in challenging offshore environments.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Preparation: Inspect, test, and calibrate marine scientific equipment before deployment.
- Assemble and configure equipment according to project requirements.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and in working order.
- Deployment Operations: Deploy and recover marine scientific equipment from vessels or platforms.
- Utilize winches, cranes, and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor equipment performance during deployment and recovery.
- Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data quality by following strict protocols and procedures.
- Monitor sensor performance and troubleshoot any issues.
- Calibrate equipment regularly to maintain accuracy.
- Post-deployment Tasks: Clean, maintain, and store equipment after each deployment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Prepare equipment for future deployments.
- Offshore Operations: Work offshore on vessels or platforms, often in challenging weather conditions.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of oceanographic principles and marine scientific equipment.
- Experience in deploying and recovering marine scientific instruments.
- Proficiency in using winches, cranes, and other lifting equipment.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Relevant qualifications in marine science, engineering, or a related field.
Additional Considerations:
- Certification: Full GWOs or BOSIET/FOET CA-EBS within 2-year issuance (2023 or later) + Manual Handling and Working at Heights, OGUK Offshore Medical, Chester Step Test, HUET CA-EBS, NMFS Approval
- Experience: Prior experience in offshore operations and marine surveys is advantageous.
